  • Ravana’s Deathbed Advice To Rama

Last Words of Ravana to Rama:

Things that are bad for you seduce you easily. You run towards them impatiently. But things that are actually good for you fail to attract you. You shun them creatively, finding powerful excuses to justify your procrastination.

  • SQB : Decisions!

“It is not important whether you are right or wrong. It is more important how much you lose when you are wrong and how much you gain when you are correct.”

  • Good Ad : Tata Safari Lines

Manik Ahuja forwarded this link of new Safari Ad – Lines.

  • Food Habits

    One Wise Man Wrote :

    1. Have Breakfast  Like A King

    2. Have Lunch Like A Ordinary Person

    3. Have Dinner Like A Beggar

This makes philosophical as well as scientific sense. But we urban gladiators do the reverse. We have a quick breakfast, skip lunch or have junk food and then have a heavy dinner. Thus also rational principles of good health and balance diet logic go for a toss.

We ignore our bodies – our temples. Sound mind in a healthy body is the key for success.

Another wise person had mentioned – Health is Wealth.  Not A Cliche but Fact of Life!

We lose health to earn wealth.  Then, we lose wealth to earn health.

  • Eternal Wisdom

    Eternal Wisdom

Once an King asked his wise men to find the true wisdom of life. They researched for years and sought the wisdom in near and distant lands. They came with the book of wisdom. The king said that it was too elaborate and long. We need a gist of it. The wise men again returned to research and exploration mode. When they returned this time, the wisdom capsule was a small booklet. The king felt that also not brief enough. Again the wise men went and returned with 4 words of wisdom. The king was happy and expressed satisfaction. He rewarded the wise men with royal honors and material wealth.

    What were these words ?
    “THIS TOO SHALL PASS”

    Evergreen Verse

Everyone of us face challenges everyday. While facing those everyday issues and challenges, we need to keep our cool, refresh ourselves and look at the big picture. Kaka shared with me the following verse, the famous prayer of Alcoholics Anonymous. These words were also framed in a poster in Magnet’s Borivali Office.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference!

  • Erasing The Past

I have erased my past. I am trying to start all over again. Nitya says that our past is never erased – and that’s a good or bad thing depending on your past. But I think that most people are so obsessed with their past that they never move ahead in life. The best example is INDIA. Past should never be an handicap but a source of strength and wisdom.

I like the quote: Nothing is more crushing to your laurels than resting on them. Also, Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it!

There is a alternative school of thought which says that live for the present. But that does not mean that we forget past or be careless about the future. The idea is to learn to enjoy the present and now get too worried about both past and future. Plan for the future, learn from the past but live and enjoy the present too.

And that indeed is a sensible idea. We need to live for today. Give your best and forget the rest. Easy to preach, difficult to practice!

  • Less Is More!

I read this article named The Relationship Between Clutter and Debt at The Family CEO Blog. It speaks about the relationship between clutter and how we manage our finances.

Yes, there is a relationship between clutter and money. If we are not systematic and particular in organizing ourselves, we would tend to be laid-back about managing our finances. And lack of financial mismanagement have saddened many a life.

    Some excerpts from the post:

First there’s the obvious: most clutter consists of items purchased. And that costs money. While some things come into our lives for free, many are things that at one time we wanted or thought we needed and so we purchased them. More purchases eventually equal more clutter.

I also believe that there’s another less obvious relationship. By choosing to have less (de-cluttering) I tend to value it more. Letting go of things creates a feeling of contentment and satisfaction rather than a desire to have more. Don’t believe it? Help your child clean up his or her room or playroom and watch as they re-discover toys, books, and games they had forgotten they had.

That’s because clutter represents stuff that isn’t valued. How much can I really care about items that have found their way to the bottom of my closet or a box in the basement? My goal is to have less but to really care for and value what I have.

  • Heart and Emotions

    SHUBHRANGSHU ROY
Shubhrangshu Roy shares his conversation with Dr Trehan on the topic of heart and emotions.

Dr Trehan says, “if you look at it the way I do, the seat of emotion is the heart. The brain may well send out a signal and that has to be the same for every person, but even medically, if you look at it, the response always differs from heart to heart,” the doc went on.

Which is why when you love someone from the bottom of your heart, it’s the ultimate act of emotion. There is nothing more you can scrape. Which is why when you have a broken heart you feel the pain right in here. Which is why when you have a bleeding heart, it drains you of all your joys right in there. “That’s the ultimate truth,” the heart doc said.

“And what about hate?” I wondered.“I am certain that while love and compassion come straight from the heart, hatred can only come from the head. Right now, I have a lot of hatred in me, but I don’t feel any of that right here.”
