I was introduced to RangDe‘s Ramakrishna by Pinstorm‘s Mahesh Murthy. And how glad I am to see another great embodiment of sensitive social entrepreneurship! Thanks Mahesh for the introductions!

RangeDe.org aims to  make low cost microcredit a reality. RangDe is a non-profit peer to peer micro-lending portal.

RangDe is another great opportunity for people to give back to society. The loan seekers are people who can make a difference to their business with the help of this social investment. The investor also earns a nominal interest on the laon disbursed. Thus it is not a charity. It is an assistance.

RangDe collects the money and gives it to their pre-screened field partners (NGOs).  You have the option to give it to specific borrower or let RangDe disburse the money. You can also have contact with the borrower.

I am sure Mahesh would have written about this great concept in his hugely hit column on Business word and Business Today. RangDe is indeed a great initiative ! Let us spread the word. Let us use it to transform lives!

Three cheers to Ramakrishna and his team ! You are doing a great service! Keep it up!

  • Live2Give : Dhanax

I come across lots of friends and well-wishers who wish to contribute to fellow human beings. Often, they do not have the time or the right information. They are ready to offer financial help, provided there is enough proof that the money is constructively and ethically utilized.

In this context, one of the interesting concepts is Dhanax. It is the online-offline person to person lending platform.

I have not used Dhanax so far. However, Dhanax and its founder is growing strong. In fact, its founder is nominated for MTV Youth Icons Of 2008

Check Dhanax : How It Works! Its a good cause!

  • Live To Give

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
    I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
    Or cool one pain,
    Or help one fainting robin
    Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

    : Emily Dickinson

Live To Give is a concept of giving back to society. Whatever way. Whatever time. Helping anyone.

Live To Give is not an organization, it is a mantra for life. We have to leave the world by giving more than we received from it. We have to leave every place by making it better than what we found it.

Live To Give is an idea to get people to help each other. Organizations, individuals can help in any manner they deem fit. If you are good in accounts, please help an old age home to manage its accounts. If you are good in technology, help someone to learn computers. If you are good in marketing, please help the neighborhood library to add more members. If you love children, visit orphanages and spread joy. If you are well-connected, connect the have-nots with haves. The haves will be thankful. However, Live To Give is not helping just the have-nots or the non-elite. Not at all!

Live To Give is a way of life. Give wherever you can. Give your best at work place. Give your best at home. Give your best to the fellow passenger on train. Give your best to the stranger looking for directions. Give your best to the friend in your life.

What will matter the most to us? How much did we earn or what difference we made in the environment?
