  • Jab We Met : Entertaining, Watchable

I am not a big fan of Kareena and Shahid. But I liked Socha Na Tha and hence decided to watch Jab We Met. I am a Director Biased Movie Fan. Today I plan to see No Smoking for Anurag.

Imtiaz Ali’s Jab We Met is a good and entertaining movie. The true revelation is Kareena who has given the best performance of her career so far. She plays an over-the-top loud extrovert character with perfection and great balance. In second half, she plays totally a opposite and restrained character. Shahid is also very impressive and manages to give a raving performance after his debut film Ishq Vishq and Vivah.

There are lovely moments in the film – handling an intimate moment in second half between Shahid-Kareena, Shahid’s meeting his mother, Karate moments etc. The movie is beautiful in first half and matures in second half. Though second half had to be a little melodramatic, it is handled rather well except for one or two songs.

There are cinematic liberties but it is acceptable. The music is lovely and songs are picturized beautifully. Yeh Ishq To is my favorite.

Overall, it is a nice cute movie with refreshing treatments. There are shades of Yash Chopra but it is a nice movie. I would give it 3.5 stars out of 5. Not as liberal as TOI!

The highlight of the movie is the wonderful chemistry of Shahid – Kareena. They are magical. You wish the current rumours are just that – rumours! And just imagine if Anshuman in the movie was Saif!

    Go watch it!

  • Advertising’s Most Important Word

MarketProfs carried an interesting article – What Is Advertising’s Most Important Word?

    Free? No

    New? No

    Special? No

    Cool? Forget It

Sexy? I know only SRK and Sex sells, but no…

Jerry Bader says the most important word is LIKE! It is the only metaphor you need to explain complex concepts and hard to comprehend processes by comparing them to common, everyday knowledge.

    He further notes:

My vote goes to the simple, innocuous word “like”: a nondescript word that carries with it all the conceptualization power you need to create a business identity, to form a brand personality, and to position your product or service in the mind of your audience.

  • Customer Experience : The Grand Bhagwati

An example of wonderful follow-up to your comments.

Everyone of us are familiar with the feedback form given to us at restaurants, airlines etc. Most of us avoid it. Some of us are cynical and are confident that the feedback is just a smart way of collecting more information about us. Then they will attack with more precise and planned marketing missiles.

I recently had been to Dhuan Restaurant at The Grand Bhagwati, Ahmedabad. We provided our feedback. I always give honest feedback and still believe that marketers are good human beings. As usual, I forgot about it until few days back when I received this in courier.

Delighted I was! (Customer delight is one of the top ten abused words in marketing.)

Kudos of the The Grand Bhagwati Team and the person responsible for it. You are one of those FEW GOOD MEN! Now of course, I am going to become little biased towards this restaurant and reward them more by my visits.

  • Experience The Magic of Leapoard

The count down for the arrival of Apple OS X Leopard is on. Users across the world are dying to experience the magic of Apple’s new techno-creative wonder.

Leopard has exciting new features like Time Machine, Quick Look, Spaces.

Time Machine backs up your system files, applications, accounts, preferences, music, photos, movies, and documents. But what makes Time Machine different from other backup applications is that it not only keeps a spare copy of every file, it remembers how your system looked on a given day — so you can revisit your Mac as it appeared in the past.

Mail has been enhanced and has new features like in-built RSS Reader, personalized templates etc.

As the D-Day nears, the excitement is catching up. This is what I read today morning on Infoworld

Apple’s announcement of the impending delivery of OS X Leopard (release 10.5 of Mac and Xserve operating systems) marks the public debut of an engineering achievement that dwarfs iPhone, iPod, Windows, and Linux.

Leopard is a legitimately big deal. It’s underhyped compared to iPhone, and yet unlike iPhone, Leopard is a genuine triumph of customer-focused engineering. It’s a pleasure and a relief to see that Apple remembers how to deliver open, affordable, standards-based products.
